2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Stagecoach Vineyard, Napa Valley
Our 2013 mountain-grown Cabernet Sauvignon came from vines in the Pritchard Hill area of Stagecoach Vineyard at about 1700’ elevation. This site is known for the rugged volcanic rock, well-drained soils and the cool fog that keeps the vineyard between 1-2°C below the Oakville mean temperature. Our grapes are Cabernet clone 685 from block I2B, a 2.75 acre block with extremely limited production.
Tasting Notes:
Aged in new and used Sansaud and Vicard French oak barrels for 24 months and true to the style of our 2004 Indy International Double Gold Medal winner, it is dark ruby red in color with aromas of fresh blackberries, caramel and red currants. The palate is complex with flavors of ripe cherries, dark chocolate and cassis. The mouthfeel is big and bold with a firm structure, balanced acidity and excellent length. Enjoy now or allow to improve for the next 4-7 years.
